I
don't know about you, but I get overwhelmed every time
I step into a clothing store these days. Holy cow - way
too many choices! What colors should I get? What styles
best suit my body? Do I need heels or flats? There has
to be a better way to shop!
A
few months ago, I picked up a fabulous new book, "The
Science of Sexy: Dress to Fit Your Unique Figure with
the Style System that Works for Every Shape and Size"
by Bradley
Bayou, and found it to be the best $28.00 I spent
in a long time.
Through
this book, I discovered which pieces would best flatter
my figure, along with which colors would work best for
me. It covered everything from tops to pants to skirts,
and even shoes and accessories. I highly recommend picking
up this book if you haven't read it yet.
After
reading this book, I decided to limit my wardrobe's color
palette and clothing styles to make my life easier. I've
discovered the colors that look best with my hair color
and skin tone, and have been gradually thinning out my
wardrobe and replacing it with my new "signature"
colors.
My colors (black, white, red, and navy blue) mix very
well with each other, so my wardrobe will stretch much
further than my last one. Plus, I try to stick to buying
timeless pieces, and ones that fit my body well. Now,
I just love throwing together a black top, white jeans,
and some fabulous red flats for a punch of unexpected
color!
When
you're looking for something to do on a rainy day, pull
out your full-length mirror and try on every piece of
clothing in your wardrobe. Only keep the pieces that make
you look and feel fabulous, and toss the rest into the
"donation pile." Through this process, you will
discover the color palette and clothing styles that suit
you best, which will then make shopping an easier and
more enjoyable experience for you.
So
instead of feeling like a deer in headlights when shopping,
I just head straight to the racks that have clothing with
my color palette. It can't get any easier than this!
Now,
if I could only start working on my shoe obsession ....
